Graco Dakota Collection -
In 2009, Graco started offering their first eco-friendly baby furniture products (Dakota Collection). Per their website, this collection is certified by the Forest Stewardship Council and the wooden parts are sustainable woods from responsibly managed forests. The finishes are water based and their cribs are packaged in recycled or recyclable materials. The crib is JPMA, ASTM and CPSC safety certified. We absolutely LOVE this crib and are still happily using it with our tall toddler.
Update: I have recently become aware that this crib has been discontinued which is unfortunate as it was an inexpensive, non-toxic crib. Check out some other eco-friendly cribs to suit a variety of budgets:
Baby Mod ParkLane 3-in-1 Baby Convertible Crib
The Baby Mod ParkLane Crib is made of New Zealand pinewood and has a non-toxic finish. The product specifications indicate that it is made of solid wood and that no paper press boards are used – this equals no toxic VOCs or formaldehyde! The crib is JPMA certified.
If your budget allows, there are a number of higher priced eco-friendly cribs you can choose:
Stokke Sleepi Crib– made entirely from sustainably grown wood with non toxic finishes
Argington Crib – made entirely of solid wood and constructed with all materials that are 100% non-toxic
Oeuf – made of sustainable sourced woods and manufactured in Europe. All finishes are non-toxic and water based
