Non-Toxic Nail Polish

Non-Toxic Nail Polish and Remover –

If you choose to wear nail polish while pregnant, there are a number of chemicals that should be avoided as listed below – note that all of these have received the highest rating (10) on the EWG Skin Deep Cosmetic Database for toxicity:

Toluene – A solvent that is used in paint thinners
Dibutyl Phthalate – Endocrine disruptors that should be avoided
Formaldehyde – A known carcinogen
If a nail polish brand does not contain the above 3 chemicals, they refer to their product as “3 free'”

Do you have any nail polish and nail products that are Soy free as well?

  2. happytotmom

Check out Keeki Pure & Simple ( They score a 2 on the EWG Skin Deep Cosmetic Database. Piggy Paint is another brand touted as kid-safe and gluten/soy free ( I couldn’t find a rating on EWG but per their website, they look to be free of the chemicals of concern. Since it is marketed towards kids, it indicates that the wear isn’t as long as other polishes.

Thanks so much! I will look into both.
