Baby Banz Baby Sunhat and Sunglasses –
We all know the dangers of skin sun exposure but did you know that children’s eyes are at increased risk for permanent eye damage from sunlight until they are 10 years old? Living in a sunny climate, we wanted to ensure that our baby was always protected from the sun. As babies cannot wear sunscreen until 6 months old, we bought a sunhat to use when our child was a newborn. The sunglasses were worn a bit later when he was approximately 2 months old and the baby sizing can typically be worn up to the age of 2.
Baby Banz is an Australian company that specializes in protective sunglasses and UPF 50+ clothing for kids. Per their website, their sunglass polycarbonate lenses provide 100% UVA/UVB protection and feature a neoprene elastic band with adjustable Velcro for a better fit.
The sunhat has a huge brim for great sun coverage and is rated UPF 50+.
Sunday Afternoons Kids Play Hat
As our child outgrew his baby sun hat, we purchased 2 additional sun hats. The first was a bucket hat from BabyGap which he wore every day and the Kids Play Hat from Sunday Afternoons was purchased for going to the beach or for outings when we would be spending a large amount of time outside in the sun. The hat is UPF 50+ and has a huge brim, a neck veil, mesh ventilation, sizing band and an adjustable chin strap which is great for windy days. He is still wearing this hat over the age of 2 so it truly does grow with your child. Check out the Sunday Afternoons Play Hat on Amazon.com!
